I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and follow their data protection guidance and relevant ethical standards for the storage and handling of personal information.
If you contact me, your details will be stored and handled in accordance with data protection requirements and ethical practice.
This means:
I will only store contact details that are necessary to enable us to communicate while we are working together.
Once we agree to work together, I may request personal information to support safeguarding, such as GP or next of kin details. This information will be stored on an encrypted and password-protected drive.
I will retain your contact details for as long as we are in communication or working together, after which they will be deleted where appropriate.
I will not share your personal information with third parties unless there is a legitimate reason to do so, where required by law, or where I have your consent.
Any electronic counselling notes kept about our sessions will be treated as confidential and stored on an encrypted and password-protected drive.
You may request access to your personal information, including counselling notes, by making a Subject Access Request (SAR).
Electronic counselling notes for children and young people will be retained until their 25th birthday, after which they will be deleted.
Electronic counselling notes for adults will be retained for seven years, after which they will be deleted.
